Youth-

GLBT youth and their allies find a safe, accepting place at QCAD.

Finding a place where you belong and feel accepted is a challenge most teenagers face.  But a young person who
identifies as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, is perceived that way, or is questioning his or her sexual orientation
or gender identity, often finds it especially hard to make supportive friends.
Also, GLBT teens often encounter more than the usual friction when dealing with parents, teachers and other adults.
If you are, or think you may be, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, you are not alone.  Many other teens in the Quad
Cities know what you are going through at school, home and even in the confusing territory of gay relationships.
These teens and their allies have found a fun, safe place to hang out and meet new people at QCAD.
Anyone between the ages of 13 and 19 is welcome at QCAD’s youth drop-ins.  Come to watch movies, play games or just talk.  The center also offers a library and Internet access.
QCAD’s youth drop-in takes place every Sunday and Tuesday, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  As the name suggests, you
may “drop in” whenever you like during those hours.
Nobody who comes is asked to tell fellow drop-in youth what their sexual orientation is or may be, though you will be
asked to fill out an intake sheet for database and funding purposes.
The drop-in is an alcohol– and drug-free space, and does not allow smoking.

For more information on QCAD's youth drop-in, please contact QCAD at
info@qcaffirmingdiversity.org.

20's & 30's-

Are you wanting to go somewhere new to meet
other GLBT people in the Quad Cities without
having to go to the bars?

Come to QCAD and meet other people from
your area in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

20's and 30's social group meetings are on
the second and forth Wednesday of every
month, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the QCAD
community room.

Men's Coming Out/Being Out

Social/support group for adult men.  Evenings usually consist of informal discussions including concerns regarding coming out and being out.  Confidentiality is always guaranteed.  First Thursday of each month is Movie Night.  Group meetings are the second and fourth Thursdays at 7pm.

Dennis Killian is the contact for this group and can be contacted at dennyray3@juno.com.

Gay & Gray-

If you are a GLBT person and feel as though you
are aging alone, Quad Citians Affirming Diversity
invites you to join with other GLBT seniors in a
supportive, affirming and fun environment.
Gay and Gray is QCAD’s social, support and
advocacy group for GLBT seniors in the Quad City
area.  We offer a place to meet other people like
you, to learn answers to your questions about end-
of-life issues and to connect you to senior services
in the area.

We are looking for people who have kept snippets of
history from news articles, or tapes of local television
broadcasts.  These pieces of the past add flavor to the
presentation

Our desire is to have input from those who have felt that
they have been discriminated against simply because of
who they are.  We also wish to cover the other side of the
coin and involve those who have lived their lives in the
Quad-Cities without conflict.  Additionally, we wish to cover
the many organizations (high school, college, choral,
religious, etc.) that have developed over the years for the
greater good and support of those who are perceived as
different.  We’d also like to learn about employment
experiences and their effects on how we act and react to
life.

The Gay and Gray group occasionally does something
that is social and would like anyone interested to attend.
Recently we watched the 1981 movie “Making Love” and
we believe it was one of the first movie productions that
had a gay theme.
Anyone  who would like to assist with this documentary, or
has a profound idea how to effectively produce this piece
of history, please contact Clayton Peterson at
claytoncp@juno.com or Keith Johnson
kjohnson@accessus.net .
